An open letter signed by KKF President Mr. Thach Thach and UNPO General Secretary Mr. Marino Busdachin was sent on Sunday 23 September to Human Rights High Commissioner Ms. Louise Arbour.
The letter kindly urges Ms. Arbour to:
Demand more information on the Tim Sa Khorn case to Cambodian and Vietnamese authorities;
Request Vietnamese authorities to allow a representative of the OHCHR to visit Tim Sa Khorn in prison;
Remind Vietnamese authorities that Tim Sa Khorn should be informed of the motives of his detention and be able to contest them;
Remind Vietnamese authorities that if Tim Sa Khorn is to be tried, his trial should be fair;
Remind Cambodian authorities that Cambodia’s ratification of several human rights instruments entails several obligations, among which that to grant and warrant freedom of expression to all of its citizens;
Send experts to Vietnam and Cambodia with the
mission to report on the situation of the Khmer Krom
community and other minorities.
